Can I change the default music and album theme?

Yes, you may change the book theme and music by inserting the Themes & Music CD that comes with the FlipAlbum® Recorder package.

You may also include your own themes and music. Please do get permission from the source of the music and theme elements before using them.

To include your own music, simply insert a CD of mp3 files.

To include your own theme, simply insert a CD of theme files. Instructions on how to create themes are as follows:

1. A FlipAlbum® theme contains the following elements or images:

  • 1 Front Cover (485x618 pixels @ 72 dpi)
  • 1 Back Cover (485x618 pixels @ 72 dpi)
  • 1 Left Page Background (434x552 pixels @ 72 dpi)
  • 1 Right Page Background (434x552 pixels @ 72 dpi)
  • 1 Centerfold Page Background (961x612 pixels @ 72 dpi)
  • 1 Book Background (1024x645 pixels @ 72 dpi)
2.

Launch an image editing program, and create ".jpg" images of each of the above-mentioned theme element. Save the theme elements according to the following file names:

  • xx Front Cover.jpg
  • xx Back Cover.jpg
  • xx Pg Left.jpg
  • xx Pg Right.jpg
  • xx Centerfold.jpg
  • xx Book Bckgnd.jpg
where xx refers to the name of the theme.
3. Save the above-mentioned files in a folder named xx.
4. Launch Notepad and create a new file with the following content. Do remember to replace "xx" with the name of the theme.
  [Theme]
Title=xx
No of Separators=0
Front Cover=xx Front Cover.jpg
Back Cover=xx Back Cover.jpg
Book Background=xx Book Bckgnd.jpg
Page Background=xx Pg Left.jpg
Right Page Background=xx Pg Right.jpg
Centerfold Page Background=xx Centerfold.jpg
5. Save the newly created file as "theme.ini" in the xx folder.
6. Create as many themes as you require and burn the theme files on a CD-R or CD-RW.

Where can I play the albums created by FlipAlbum® Recorder? Must they be played on a FlipAlbum® Recorder, or can they also be played on a Computer and/or TV?

With FlipAlbum® Recorder, you may create pop-and-play Album CDs for PC playback. The recipients of your Album CDs do not have to install any programs, not even FlipViewer®, to view your album. They may simply pop the Album CD in their PC CDROM drive, and your album will be automatically displayed.

You may also choose to copy the images directly from your Memory Card to a CD-R or CD-RW. This is known as image archiving. You may do so by using the 'Copy Memory Card Contents to CD' feature on the FlipAlbum® Recorder Options Menu or by pressing the 'Copy' button on the FlipAlbum® Recorder.

How long does it take to transfer 650MB of images to the CD Writer? How long does it take to burn an Album CD?

There are basically two modes of transferring your images from the Memory Card onto a CD-R or CD-RW using FlipAlbum® Recorder.

1. Image Archiving
This function allows you to archive the contents of your Memory Card onto a CD-R or CD-RW. You may then free up the space in your Memory Card for more photo-taking. You may archive your images from your Memory Card to a CD-R by simply pressing the 'Copy' button on the FlipAlbum® Recorder, or by selecting the 'Copy Memory Card Contents to CD' option on the FlipAlbum® Recorder Options Menu. The time taken to archive the images depends on the number and size of the images in your Memory Card. For images of size 650MB, the archiving process takes approximately 20 minutes.

2. Creating an Album CD
After you have removed, rotated or modified the images to your satisfaction, you may start creating an Album CD by selecting the "Burn Album onto CD" option on the FlipAlbum® Recorder Options Menu. The Album CD burning process depends on the number and size of the images, themes and music files applied to the Flipbook. Hence, the Album CD burning process takes slightly longer, by about 3 to 5 minutes, as compared to the image archiving process.

I'm not able to view the Album CDs created from FlipAlbum® software. The pages are blank.

There are two possible reasons why your pages appear blank, namely:

1. Your Album CD is encrypted. Please note that the current version of FlipAlbum® Recorder does not support image encryption.
2. The image format of the image(s) on your Album CD is not supported. The current version of FlipAlbum® Recorder supports images of JPG and BMP file format only.
